“Moon River” was written by Henry Mancini (music) and Johnny Mercer (lyrics) in 1961 for the move “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”.  The song was performed in the movie by its star, Audrey Hepburn, and won the Academy Award for best song that year.  It became the signature song for recording artist Andy Williams, and has also been performed and recorded by such artists as Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra, Barbara Streisand, and Lena Horne.
