In April of 1999, David Schnaufer was invited to do some workshops and a concert for the dulcimer club in Charleston, WV. Shortly before the concert was to start that evening, all the power went out in the church where the event was being held. David decided to proceed with the concert anyway, and the result was an absolutely magical performance by the legendary dulcimer virtuoso. The entire performance was recorded by Dave Haas, who was able to set up his video camera just a few feet from where David sat. With no mic stands or other sound equipment in the way, the camera was able to capture every detail of David’s hands on the fret board, and the acoustics in the church sanctuary were perfect. Dave Haas, with considerable technical assistance from Bob Webb, has since converted the recording to digital format. Dave has generously donated this video to the “Dulcimers for David” project, which seeks to honor the memory of David Schnaufer and carry on his vision for the dulcimer. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of this DVD go to purchase dulcimers for kids who have expressed an interest in learning to play.
