Go to virtualdulcimerfest.com to register.

Here are links to the registration pages for some of the classes I’ll be offering this time around:

Friday Session 1 - “Using the Moving Bass Line” - learn a simple chord substitution technique you can use to “dress up” many of the tunes you already play.

Friday Session 3 - “Flat Picking Fundamentals” - we’ll work on some multi-part ensemble arrangements while demonstrating that “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts”!

3-String Orchestra: “William Tell Overture” - How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time! How do you learn to play “William Tell Overture”? One bite-sized chunk at a time! In this class, we’ll break the arrangement down into small sections, using repetition to gradually get the speed to tempo. When your friends hear you play this song, they’ll be asking, “Who was that masked dulcimer player!”

Saturday Session 2- “Magic of the 1+ Fret” - in this class, you’ll learn how to actually get some use out of that handy little extra fret that many mountain dulcimer players have had added to their instruments.

Saturday Session 4- “Intro to TablEdit” - THIS 2-HOUR EXTENDED CLASS will take the mystery out of using the program for creating mountain dulcimer tablature. No experience is required. You will receive extensive handouts with mountain dulcimer-specific instructions and screenshots for each phase of the process for future reference.
