Tull now has teaching CDs available for selected tunes/arrangements.  Each CD contains approximately 60 minutes of instruction, taking the student through the tunes step by step, note by note, chord by chord, gradually working up speed, and culminating with "play along" tracks at the end.  Students learn new techniques and new tunes at the same time.  It's like having a workshop instructor in your living room - except that you can hit "rewind" or "repeat" for those tricky sections!

What A Wonderful World
Mt Dulcimer Workshop
With Tull Glazener

“What A Wonderful World” was written by George Weiss and Bob Thiele in 1967 as a response to the politically and racially charged climate pervasive in the U.S. at that time.  Jazz trumpet master Louis Armstrong, 66 years old at the time, recorded a very poignant, gravelly-voiced version of it that has become a classic.  He expressed his ebullient optimism and unshakable faith in the future, despite some seemingly hopeless conditions of the times.   The song enjoyed a resurgence in popularity in 1988, 17 years after Armstrong’s death, when it was featured in the motion picture “Good Morning, Vietnam”.   Since then it has been recorded by such disparate artists as Tony Bennett, Willie Nelson, Roy Clark, Diana Ross, Eva Cassidy, and Frankie Valli.   Hawaiian ukulele legend Israel Kamakawiwo’ole released his unique version of it in 1993.

This workshop CD will take you measure by measure, note by note, chord by chord through the tune, with detailed instructions on fingering and other playing techniques, culminating with a “play along” track at the end.  Enjoy!
