Cincinnati Dulcimer Celebration!
Mountain and Hammered Dulcimer
Workshops and Concert
We will be emphasizing the learning of new
techniques, with a goal of helping students make those old tunes seem
brand new again. Once you've picked up these new tricks, you'll be
able to apply them to all the tunes you know, and really give a boost to
your playing. Lofty goals? Yup, but that's where we're
aiming.
Our faculty includes Tull Glazener, Sam Stone, Tom and
Missy Strothers, and John Sackenheim on the MD side, and Guy George, Molly
Freibert, and Joyce Harrison on the HD team.
There will be twenty
different workshops during the day, and you will always have a choice
about which to attend, on either instrument. We'll also have an
evening concert and daytime open stage and jamming times.
If this
project is successful (that is, if we don't go broke doing it), we'll go
for it again and again. For a first-time event, we are very excited
and pleased that we've been able to bring together so many wonderful
teacher/performers. A website page will be available soon, but in

September 19th - DULCIMER SOCIETY OF NORTHERN
ILLINOIS (DSNI) in Wilmette, Illinois
September 19, 2004: Tull Glazener & Guy George—Tull and Guy’s
extraordinary talents on mountain and hammer dulcimer, respectively, will be
showcased in this double workshop event on Ensemble Playing. We’ll also hear
their own ensemble playing, which runs the gamut from traditional to jazz
and can combine dulcimers with steel drum, saxophone, flute and more.
We will begin with separate workshops for the mountain and hammer players,
then come together to play as an ensemble and for the mini-concert. In order
for us to have all this fun, please try to arrive early enough to be ready
to start playing by 2 pm. This event will be held at our regular meeting
site, St. Augustine's Church, 1140 Wilmette Avenue, Wilmette, IL. There is a

event of $15 for members and $18 for non-members.
We open our meeting room at 1:30 p.m. for instrument set-up and tuning;
playing begins at 2:00 p.m. Players of all acoustic instruments are welcome.
Even though meetings are sometimes led by a musician who plays only the
mountain or only the hammered dulcimer, we always have sheet music, chord
designations and TAB available and meetings are designed to provide fun for
